Andratx

Andratx has lain in the southwest of Majorca, about 30 km of the capital of Palma remotely, and belongs to the Tramuntana mountains. Limited in the east of the municipality of Calviá, in the north-east of Estellens and from the sea in the west, the south and the north. The municipality orders more than 6 places: Andratx, Port d’Andratx, Sa Coma, S’Arracó, San Telmo and Camp de Mar.

The northern part of the municipality is mountainous, wild and is practically unoccupied. The highest peak is the mountain La Moleta de s’Esclop or Sa Madona (the woman) with 927 m, the popular name, because the hill resembles a recumbent woman with hands folded about the breast.

The Castillo de Son Mas is the city hall of Andratx (Ayuntamiento) since 1998, and it is one of the emblematically buildings of the zone. Other places of interest are the church Santa María, built as a parish in 1248. Through the street of the antique town quarter of the Pantaleu sauntering where to itself the mills Sa Planeta, the building la Cüria, nowadays it accommodates the library, and the tower Gaiana, consider, one can receive an impression of the history of the town.

The best day to visit Andratx is the market day on Wednesday.
